The beautiful colors of this cloth cast my thoughts upon the joy that must be felt by the women who make their dresses out of this pattern.  I loved putting the pieces together to create what I thought would be a joyful stole.  For some reason, my mind shifted to the strife and hardship so many people face at the hands of other humans.  I decided to put a "fence" around the boarder of the stole to represent the oppression and lack of freedom too many less fortunate than I endure.
